Wellsite Geologist

Pinson Well Logging is looking to hire several new wellsite geologists in Oklahoma City, OK. Some openings are immediate and additional openings may be available in the coming months.

Wellsite geologists would be working on oil and gas drilling sites analyzing rock cuttings and monitoring gas levels during the drilling process. The geologist works to generate digital mudlogs which describe the geologic and drilling information. Daily communication with the rig crew and supervising geologist from the oil company is expected.

Pinson Well Logging works with major oil and gas companies in Oklahoma and surrounding areas. Working as a wellsite geologist is a way to earn valuable field experience that can open the door to additional opportunities with oil and gas companies after a few years. Field work allows you to learn the processes involved in drilling a successful oil or gas well. Hands on experience gained in the field will greatly improve your opportunities for advancement within the oil and gas industry.

We are a small, family-owned company focused on providing a superior product and the best service in the industry. This is an entry level position with no experience required.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Geology strongly desired*
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Valid US drivers license and reliable source of transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

*Oil industry experience may be considered in lieu of a geology degree

New employees will be assigned to an experienced wellsite geologist for a training period. Following training, geologists may be assigned to a well as an individual or as part of a team. The work schedule will vary, but is expected to be 12 hour days, 7 days per week for the entirety of the drilling process (30-60 days on average) and approximately 1 week off between wells. Some days with 24 hour on-site coverage may be required.
